About

This site contains the musings of Daniel Neades – just another Random Guy with a blog.

I’m based in the Isle of Man, a very pretty rock in the middle of the Irish Sea. I am a member of a Reformed Baptist church there, which subscribes to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. You can find me on Twitter and (if I haven’t yet cancelled my account) Facebook.

My beliefs

I believe and cling fast to the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached by St. Paul:

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you – unless you believed in vain.

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

1 Cor. 15:1–8

I am a sinner saved by grace through faith. This is not of myself, but is the gift of God. My salvation is therefore not my work, but God’s alone. I am simul iustus et peccator.

I hold to the five solas of the Reformation: sola scriptura, sola fide, sola gratia, solus Christus, soli Deo gloria.

Disagree with me about something? I make mistakes and I still have much to learn, so you might well be right. Prove your case from the Bible, and you’ll convince me.

Test everything

Why should you listen to what I have to say? No reason. Like I said, I’m just Some Random Guy on the Internet. Be like the Bereans – they even compared everything that St. Paul taught with Scripture. You should therefore most certainly test everything that I say:

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11)

And if I get something wrong? Leave a comment and let me know. If it’s a point of doctrine, remember to make your critique from Scripture. Or feel free to ask a question. I’m usually quite civilized.
